Dr. Nashon L. Walker on why he creates music

"Music is not what I do it's who I am", says Dr. Nashon L. Walker a.k.a DreamSound.  Music was always what Dr. Nashon was known for growing up as a child and teenager.  At age 19, Nashon faced the hardest season of his life when he was incarcerated.  Faced with illiteracy and with little outside support, Nashon’s odds of overcoming this tragedy were seemingly impossible.  It was at this moment in his life that faith in God and a commitment to change became a reality, and Nashon began to educate himself through daily dictionary and Bible readings. Nashon began to teach himself new words and started to practice their use in the form of poetry and songwriting. Little did Nashon know that this was the start of his communication and music career. Nashon wrote poems and songs every day to help his literacy and to communicate the deep pain, hurt and even joy he was experiencing in his new found gifting.

On April 2015, Nashon Walker was given an Honorary Doctorate degree in Music from Dr. Clyde Rivers, Ambassador at Large to the republic of Burundi and commissioned to create a new genre of music that will lift humanity and particularly the urban culture.  That new genre is called DreamSound Music it is also one of the artist names that Dr. Walker goes by: DreamSound.
